Job DescriptionMinuteClinic is seeking a full-time Medical Assistant/Patient Care Coordinator to join our group practice. We are looking for a team player who is eager to learn, is hard working, and professional. You will work in collaboration with a dedicated team of professionals caring for patients ranging in age 18 months and above. Care is documented via computerized electronic health record. You will report directly to the Senior Practice Manager. The Nurse Practitioner at your location will provide day to day direction and supervision on care coordination, daily clinic administrative duties, and any other necessary elements related to holistic evidenced based high quality care.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Patient-Centered Quality and Safety* Assist clinical providers during the patient visit by rooming the patient, collecting patient history and accurately collecting vital signs and specimens for simple tests as well as diagnostics as directed* Educate patients on maintaining proper health as directed by Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant* Complies with Joint Commission, OSHA, DOH, and HIPAA standards* Accurately documents pertinent information in the electronic health recordCustomer Service Excellence* Provides superior customer service and outstanding patient care* Seeks to increase patient engagement and satisfaction through integration of feedback from patients, management, and professional colleagues* Focuses consistently on the patient: creates a warm and welcoming environment in the waiting area, inside the exam room, on the telephone, and through other communication vehicles* Answers phones, schedules appointments, completes prior authorizations and coordinates specialist appointments* Collects payment at time of service & answers questions regarding insurance co-payment, billing and additional charges for services* Assist patients in problem solving potential issues related to the health care system, financial or social barriers (e.g., request interpreters as appropriate, transportation services or prescription assistance).Healthcare Environment Management* Cultivate and maintain positive relationships among practice employees and retail store colleagues* Reprioritizes continually throughout the day to fulfill patient and business needs* Manages clinical and non-clinical duties efficiently* Ordering and maintaining adequate supplies for inventory management* Completes point of care control testing and logs results per protocolsBusiness Acumen* Accountability in managing business including, but not limited to, budget, inventory, billing insurance, and payment collection* Drives business results through connecting day to day activity achievement to overall business goals* Adheres to internal systems for handling cash, daily reconciliation, and deposits* Participate in community engagement outreach and initiatives to drive practice growth* Adheres to MinuteClinic policies on dress code, professional conduct, attendance, punctuality, documentation, performance criteria and other directives as issuedRequired Qualifications
* Proficiency with information management and technology
* Experience with Epic electronic health record system highly desired* A minimum of 3 years of recent Primary Care experience as a Medical Assistant in either a family medicine or primary care practice, preferred * Ability to confidentially prepare, administer, and provide immunizations and vaccinations as directed* Excellent time management skills* Ability to think independently, follow directions, and receive feedbackPreferred QualificationsEducation
* Graduated from an accredited Medical Assistant program* Associates Degree, preferred* Medical Assistant Certification, preferred
