Job Description

As an Applications Development Senior Manager, you will manage both full- employees and contracted resources to execute project work within the IT organization at CVS Health. You will ensure that project initiatives and guidelines meet both internal and client requirements and are delivered on-time.

The Senior Manager leads a team of developers to deliver the architecture, design, development, and deployment of restful API services and client integrations for the next generation of Specialty pharmacy applications.

technology. Push the limits, try new technologies, take calculated risks, and proactively search for the best
solutions and ideas in the marketplace. Lead, train, and motivate developers to deliver first-class technology solutions in a positive, fun, yet challenging and deadline driven environment. Become a leader and evangelizer
to keep CVS at the forefront for emerging technologies such as cloud, IoT, open source, etc…

Work closely with CVS’s technology service providers, both internal and external, to drive consistent
implementations and adherence to architectural guidelines.

In addition, you will be expected to:

Have deep technical understanding of full-stack technologies including JavaScript technologies such as Angular and React for front end and Spring MVC, Spring Boot for backend.

Set forth code quality guidelines and standards, lead code reviews and ensure that all solutions are aligned to pre-defined architectural specifications.

Identify/troubleshoot application code-related issues, and review and provide feedback to any
required final user documentation.

Demonstrate knowledge of software programming principles, systems architecture, optimization, and
quality assurance testing.

Work closely with all other Product and Technology teams, internal and external, to bring technology
solutions and perspectives to the product development process with the goal of improving user experience, scalability, capability, robustness, development speed and efficiency

Aid in the selection of vendors for implementation work, hold them accountable, and ensure high quality

Act as subject matter expert and escalation point for the day-to-day operational activities across the landscape
of application(s) utilized by the business.

Exemplify excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to deftly tailor
technical communications to the audience

Understanding of key development skills; such as object oriented design, design patterns, service architectures, and the development lifecycle.

Required Qualifications

Minimum of 8 years' leadership experience in an Information Systems environment, leading large teams, and overseeing technical work groups including budgeting, strategic planning, technical direction, and staff

Coaching/mentoring including the following:

  • 8+ years' experience of strong application, development background as Senior Architect, Manager or Senior Technical Project Manager.
  • Experience of key development skills; such as object oriented design, design patterns, service architectures, and the development lifecycle.
  • Proficiency with technologies such as JAVA, Spring MVC, Spring Boot, JMS, Oracle.
  • Experience with Business Process Management and rules engines such as JBOSS JBPM and Drools.
  • Proficiency in UI Technologies such as Extensive HTML, CSS, JQuery, AJAX, Angular js, HTML5, responsive design.
  • Experience in Cloud storage and related technologies.
  • Expertise in gathering requirements and documenting user needs, modeling requirements through user stories and
  • other means, and expertise with agile estimating and planning.
  • Interface with key project stakeholders like management, cross functional team leadership, offshore and
  • onsite teams, R&D, customers and project managers is required.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in Insurance or Healthcare Industry

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent required. Master’s degree in Information Technology,
Computer Science, Computer Engineering or equivalent preferred.
