The Medicare Part D (Med D) Process Improvement team delivers strategic, disruptive, operational initiatives that result in significant impact and improvement to Med D financials, business direction and covered-member lives served. Specifically, the intern will be engaged across all functions of Med D operations, with particular emphasis on leading and performing root cause analysis, solution ideation, design, and testing. You'll also involved in the planning, design and execution of pilot programs. The Process Improvement group operates in focused project teams. You would be a major contributor to one or more project teams during the course of the internship. You will work closely with business partners at all levels of the organization to understand the business, solve problems, and present recommendations to senior leadership.
As an Intern, you will have exposure to how the Process Improvement team operates. This team is responsible for the delivery of several process improvement solutions, from original scoping and definition all the way through implementation and measurement of results. We work closely with Med D Operations and with our IT team to design, develop, test, and implement holistic solutions that have people, process, and technology aspects included.

The Intern role provides you with the opportunity be involved with our team's activities, including but not limited to:
-Root cause investigation: Starting with the “symptom” of problems and opportunities and tracing those symptoms to root cause. This will involve: observations and firsthand data gathering, interviews with subject matter experts, requesting data pulls and analyzing the data from our systems.
-Solution design: Proposing new solutions to address issues and performance gaps, vetting those solutions with key stakeholders, refining solution design, identifying key testing criteria to ensure no unforeseen consequences from new solution
-Communicating findings and recommendations to Med D leaders and key stakeholders (via structured PowerPoint slide presentations).
-Support for solution development: Partnering with business analysts and operators to detail the solution requirements (for both the technology and the process components of the solution)
-Support for testing, refinement, and implementation of solutions
-Measuring and analyzing the impact of solutions on the business
Required Qualifications-Availability to work full time for duration of the 10 week program.
-Ability to travel up to 20%
-Proven track record scoping, constructing and executing complex analyses to meet business case requirement
-Superior analytical skills, quantitative skills, logic and problem solving skills
-Demonstrated success dealing with ambiguity or uncertainty and ability to learn on the fly to understand and solve new problems
-High level of independent judgment and initiative required
-Strong ability to communicate effectively and succinctly in a manner that is clear, logical and consistent
-Highest level of attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, adjusting priorities as needed and meeting deadlines
-Highly skilled and practiced in MS Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint
-Health Care industry or other Operations experience
-Visio and Sharepoint experience
-Exposure to process improvement tools, techniques or frameworks
-Comfort and competence presenting and explaining situations and solutions to groups in a complete but concise fashion
-Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to interact and influence at all levels of the organization
-Candidate must be enrolled in a two year MBA program with the final year beginning in the Fall of 2018 Business Overview
