Job DescriptionThe Sr. Manager position for Hadoop Application Development (Delivery Manager) is a key role in the organization. This Individual will be responsible for planning and executing high impactful projects that lead to actionable insight generation through big data advanced analytics like predictive analytics and machine learning.
Candidate should have the aptitude to learn new technologies, ready to push the boundaries in solving real business problems. Position requires strong understanding of Hadoop distributed systems and experience in using open source framework. Deep technical expertise, excellent communications skills and exceptional follow through is needed as well.
Responsibilities include management and review of application redundancy and contingency plan to ensure uninterrupted service to the customers. Individual will have to partner with the Application Management Team, Architects and SMEs for enhancements/solutions to address application vulnerability issues, processing capacity and stability needs. Additionally, individual will have to develop training plans to enhance technical, analytical and business capability across the team, work with business and technology partners to plan and test the disaster recovery plan.
This position will be responsible for the following but not limited to:
Preferred Qualifications 8+ years of hands-on experience in architecture, design or development of enterprise applications and integration including the following:
· Provide architecture and solutioning help in large scale distributed systems, especially those involving Hadoop , Spark, NoSQL databases and analytical programming languages (Python/R).
· Document and lead design reviews, provide input to the design recommendations
· Contribute during the design workshops on Hadoop based data management and job flows
· Explore new technologies in the big data domain and ensure that the team is trained on the latest technologies
· Provide day to day guidance and coaching to direct reports to ensure their success in assigned activities and objectives
· Encourage others to persevere despite challenges, frustrations or difficulties faced
· Confidently provide clear problem descriptions and guidance to senior business management in a time critical environment
· Manage customer expectations through effective communication of timely status updates.
Take ownership of own work as well as teams, and be accountable for the quality of work done
8+ years of experience in projects development & delivery. Should be able to manage cross functional delivery at program level and across multiple projects and platforms.
3+ years’ experience with Hadoop project development and implementation.
In depth understanding of BI and Analytics Solution Architecture.
Experience in Monitoring technologies, Big data backup strategies and Virtualization
Strong people management skills. Ability to evaluate the performance of the resources and provide timely feedback and work with the resources to improve productivity and efficiency of the team and mentor team members as needed.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Exhibit leadership behavior which supports the business and technology goals through creative thinking and strong problem management.
Ability to handle multiple competing tasks in an ordered manner, prioritizing to ensure business deliverables are met.
Masters degree in computer science or equivalent Business Overview
