When I was in high school, most of my friends worked for apparel stores at the local mall or in coffee shops. I easily could have done the same, but I wanted to work somewhere I could make a true difference in people’s lives everyday. CVS also offered me the flexibility to develop professionally and academically. Fourteen years later, this still hold true.
While the overall goal to help people on their path to better health remains constant, what I love about my job is that no two days are the same. Whether we are designing programs to enhance the customer experience or identifying ways to make the job better for our store colleagues, the work I do is constantly evolving.
My journey with CVS has been so rewarding. I tell my family and friends that I grew up at CVS, and I credit the company for inspiring me to pursue my bachelor’s degree, my MBA, and providing me the chance to advance my career. Working at CVS has not only made me a better professional, but more importantly, a better person.
It’s never boring! There’s always something new going on, new problems to solve, and new chances to shine.
I was recently selected for the Enterprise Career Maps program. This leadership development program takes employees through 3 - 4 rotations in different departments, providing the opportunity to work on high visibility projects with senior leaders. On a daily basis, I interact with colleagues from several parts of the organization, present to senior leaders, monitor progress, and provide updates on projects such as Retail Transformation or Compliance 3.0.
Someone should consider working in retail if they love people and they love a challenge. The work is fast-paced and fun, and there’s such a rewarding feeling you can take away when you’ve helped someone.
I would love to stay with CVS for my entire career, climbing the ladder as high as I can go. How cool would it be for someone who started as a front store cashier to be an executive or even the CEO of the company?
