Job Description
Sr. Advisor of Specialty Architecture. As a Senior Advisor, you will work with both full-time employees and contracted resources to execute project work within the IT organization at CVS Health. You will lead architects and developers to deliver the design, code, and deployment of the next generation of Specialty pharmacy applications on a cloud native architecture.
* Lead for API and Event architecture, determine the vision of capabilities that need to be built out for migrating our Legacy applications and working with development teams and business partners to make that strategic vision a reality.
* Work with the team to decompose existing monolithic applications to design and deliver Architectures for complex custom projects using the latest Open Source technologies.
* Lead the effort to define API practices that will allow the Specialty Organization to build technological ecosystems for efficient experimentation and continuous improvement.
* Foster an environment that empowers teams and facilitates the development of your team members, setting everyone up to deliver their best work.
* Lead Domain modeling, including domain driven design and modeling business events
* Design Event models (sync vs. async message, p2p, versus pub/sub vs. distributed log approach, web based).
* Define API governance and how it applies in practice
* Specify RESTful principles and define how to model functionality in an API that addresses relevant use cases.
* Specify Systems architecture and approaches to manage architectural debt.
* Identify API design techniques and strategies for API evolution.
* Communicate design approaches to teams and organization
* Lead, legacy architectural remediation (facades, strangler approaches, et. al.).
* Facilitate meetings with business and IT to define new products.
* Manage stakeholders and interact with team at all levels of the organization.
* Focus on integration architecture and domain modeling, and articulate the pros/cons of different approaches.
* Work across teams to explore integration options.
* Facilitate discussions to ensure alignment with architectural vision, be able to course correct on architectural deviations.
* Evangelize for APIs within an organization
* Communicate the value of good domain modeling and API design to business stakeholders.
* Communicate team and organizational design approaches to decouple development efforts.
* Train new technology leaders and developers on platform thinking.

Required Qualifications

8+ years of overall IT experience including the following:



8+ years of experience as Enterprise Java Developer, developing and designing enterprise-wide distributed solutions & in providing hands-on lead role in executing project implementation
* Minimum of 2 years of experience with cloud architectures
* Experience in Java, J2EE Design Patterns, Object-Oriented design, Algorithms and Optimizations
* Experience building and consuming Micro Services
* Excellent communication skills
* Experience in backend application development: Java, Spring/Spring Boot
* Experience in front end application development: HTML, CSS, JavaScript frameworks
* Experience in integration layer development: RESTful APIs/ Spring/Web Services/JMS
* Experience with: SQL and relational databases (e.g. Oracle, Maria DB, MySQL)
* Experience leading, building, and executing strategic activities



Preferred Qualifications
* Experienced with API design
* Experience with Gradle, Git/Bitbucket, Jenkins, Groovy, Grails, Spring Cloud, Spring Boot, Docker
* Experience with current front end development: JavaScript frameworks, Vue.js, React, HTML5, CSS

Education

Bachelors in Computer Science or equivalent experience
