It starts with YOU.

Your health — physical, mental, and emotional — can all take a toll when you are job searching. You can fight off job-search fatigue, anxiety, and depression by taking small actions each day.

  • Start your morning by drinking a glass of water and make sure you stay hydrated throughout the day.
  • Exercise is a proven remedy for staying positive when between jobs. Even if you can’t fit a steady physical exercise plan into your day, take a stretch break once every hour.
  • Meditation and positive affirmations can reset your mental attitude when you start feeling low. Set aside just a few minutes a day to calm your mind and refocus your energy.

  • Get involved with your community through volunteering. Helping others will not only have a positive effect on your mental well-being, it can also be a great way to network.
  • Find a “job search partner” and keep each other accountable for your job search efforts. You can help each other find jobs and practice interviewing together.
  • Join online communities or groups that align with your career goals and interests. Staying active online can introduce you to new connections and job opportunities.

  • Treat your job search like a job. Set dedicated work blocks to focus solely on tasks that are related to your career journey.
  • Outline achievable goals and small wins as you work towards the larger goal of finding a new job. Track your progress on how many resumes you send out, interviews you get, contacts you network with, etc.
  • Build up your resume by learning new skills. Enroll in a class, read a business-focused book, or take up a hobby that will advance your career.

CVS Health is committed to offering continuous development so you can grow professionally and personally.

Carol started her career at CVS Health as an intern 13 years ago. Today, she is a retail pharmacy district leader and credits CVS Health for encouraging her growth.

“I became a pharmacy manager early in my career, which I thought was the end goal. Several leaders reached out to me and believed I could do more. I was a mom of young kids trying to balance work and home stresses, but it planted a seed in me. Less than a year later, I became the District Leader. It has been the most rewarding experience of my career.”
