What is a Virtual Job Tryout (VJT)?

CVS Health screens over a million job applicants a year. To be fair and objective in making hiring decisions, we use virtual job tryouts to screen applicants. VJTs provide realistic job previews so you can see what the job is like and if you think it is a good fit for you. It also includes several exercises where you “try out” the job, and CVS Health can learn about your job-related skills and experience.

Not every job has a VJT associated with it, but if you do need to take a VJT, set yourself up for success! So that you can do your best, find a quiet and distraction-free location to take the VJT. For VJTs that require audio, make sure you have access to headphones and/or speakers. Most VJTs are mobile friendly and available in English and Spanish.

If you think you may need an accommodation to take the VJT, email ColleagueRelations@CVSHealth.com before you begin.

For technical questions on the Virtual Job Tryout, email cvs_support@modernhire.com before you finish.

Information about some of the more common exercises

Reviewing the exercise descriptions below may help you be more comfortable with your experience. Please note – every VJT is different, so the actual exercises will vary. This list is not comprehensive.

Realistic Job Preview

In this section, you will learn more about what the work in the role is like, what tasks are performed, and the challenges and rewards. This information should help you decide if you think the job is right for you.

Working with Customers and Colleagues

This exercise presents situations that a CVS Health Colleague could experience on the job. You will be presented with four possible responses to a situation and asked to indicate what you would be most and least likely to do.

Data Accuracy Check

Data Accuracy will not be on every VJT, but it is a good example of what a skills exercise may look like. In this instance, you will be presented with different tasks related to checking for the accuracy of data, such as comparing prescriptions to the information on medicine bottles.

Tell us about you

This section is a series of questions about your work history. If you do not have previous work experience, tell us about school, sports, or other memberships you are in as you answer each question.

Work Style

This section asks about your work style. You will read two statements and choose which one sounds the most like you. There are no right or wrong answers here. Just be you!
