Finance Internship Program

The Finance Internship Program (FIP) is a 11-weeks program that provides diverse, high-potential students interested in a finance and accounting career with an opportunity to develop financial and technical skills, learn about the health care industry, and develop leadership competencies. You will be assigned a role within our Finance organization where you will complete impactful work and add tangible value to your department. You’ll also participate in immersive onboarding and training, our mentorship program, engage in networking events, interact with senior leaders, and participate in community service activities.

As Finance intern, you will build a lasting professional network and support system and have the opportunity to start your long-term career at CVS Health. This program is the premier entry point into the Finance Leadership Development Program (FLDP), which is a three-year rotational experience designed to develop you into a future finance leader at CVS Health.

The Finance summer internship program is from May 28th – August 9th 2024.

Requirements

  • Be in your penultimate year of studies (the summer prior to your graduation)
  • Have a major, minor or concentration relevant to the position. Examples include: Finance, Accounting, Economics, Analytics, Mathematics or similar quantitative majors

First Few Days of Onboarding

At CVS Health, we care about helping you on your path to a successful career! Your program leaders, summer manager and teammates, peer advisors and mentors will be there to help you get started at CVS Health and navigate your summer experience.

These are some of the things we will do to reinforce how CVS Health supports you:

  • Make sure you feel welcomed and comfortable!
  • Make introductions and set-up meetings, as appropriate to your role

  • Provide direction and guidance on team goals, key deliverables and performance expectations
  • Follow-up to ensure onboarding activities are completed in a timely manner
  • Maintain regular check-in meetings to get feedback, answer questions and clarify information

You will undergo an immersive onboarding experience when you first join the Finance Leadership Programs. This will ensure a consistent, smooth, and seamless introduction into the Finance Programs and CVS Health.

Onboarding activities include extensive training on technical skills, soft skills, leadership skills, business knowledge, networking events, an alumni panel and more.

You will participate in both live and self-paced trainings through your time in the FIP. Trainings may range from enterprise to finance related knowledge, including financial statement analysis, as well budgeting and forecasting, to technological related skills such as Tableau, Alteryx, Power BI to various soft skills such as public speaking, networking, and more!

You will also be able to participate in the Leadership Speaker Series, where leaders from across the company regularly share their knowledge, experience, and area expertise. Leaders come from all segments of the company as well as cross-functional areas.

You will have the opportunity to partner with colleagues from the Finance Programs to join forces and solve business problems for the organization. Similar to the business cases you’ve delivered in the classroom – except these are live and real.

You and your team will collaborate to bring unique perspectives that will be presented to the program leaders and business partners who initially identified the problem. Solutions may impact a significant portion of finance department or even the entire enterprise.

Our Most Successful Candidates will:

  • Have demonstrated leadership experience. Examples include: active roles in student or social organization activities, sports, or school or work-related projects
  • Show strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Have internship, work, or project experience in related field such as finance, accounting, or business
  • Have experience with data analysis and visualization tools, for example Microsoft Excel to maintain spreadsheets and perform moderately complex functions
  • Have an interest in obtaining full-time position within CVS Health upon graduation
  • Have openness to relocate to core Finance locations such as: Hartford, CT; Cumberland, RI; Northbrook, IL; Phoenix, AZ. Should also be willing to relocate as part of your future career track. If eligible, housing and travel assistance will be provided
